Time is running out to have your say on funding for policing in Northamptonshire |
Dear Resident,
Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone needs your views before setting next year’s council tax precept - the part that funds policing. Policing is funded by government grants and council tax. Together Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service make up around 18% of your council tax bill. We’re consulting on an expected increase of £14 a year for policing (Band D property) and £5 for fire services. On December 17, the Government announced that it will allow Commissioner’s to ask for £15 a year towards policing. Before setting this year’s precept, Danielle wants to hear as many views as possible to inform her before she makes her precept proposals in February. We need to hear from you before the January 5, 2026. Danielle said: “It’s never easy to ask for more, but we need to balance budgets and invest in policing, including new hubs, more officers, and resources to keep communities safe.” The strategic priorities for Northamptonshire Police are set out in the Safe and Sound Plan, shaped by public feedback, so before the level for next year is set, we really want to hear from the public. The survey is open until midday, Monday January 5, 2026. Don’t miss out on a chance to have your say here: https://www.research.net/r/OPFCCPR25
